Mississauga City Council has passed a new resolution to support the ongoing construction and operation of rooftop solar projects in Mississauga.
Director of Environment, Brenda Osborne said that delivering on the City’s green vision requires continuous support at all levels. He added “Reducing Mississauga’s environmental impact through the installation of solar panels in Mississauga represents our ongoing commitment to putting the City’s environmental master plan into action.”
The facts of Rooftop Solar Projects in Mississauga include:
- For all rooftop solar projects, the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) gave 27 new Small Feed-in Tariff (FIT) renewable energy contracts in Mississauga On July 3, 2013.
- November 4, 2013 to December 20, 2013 is the next application period for Small FIT projects.
- The 27 rooftop solar projects in Mississauga may generate 4,464 kilowatts (kW) of power which is enough power to run 1,700 homes for a year.
