A ceremony was organized to mark the start of construction of Tomken Station, along the Mississauga bus fast transit corridor. This project will start service in spring 2013 for the improvement of local and inter-regional bus operations. It will cover 18 kilometers across Mississauga along the Highway 403, Eastgate Parkway and Eglinton Avenue corridors between Winston Churchill Boulevard in the west and Renforth Drive in the east. Twelve stations will be constructed along the route.
On March 6, 2007 the federal government announced funding for the project, as part of FLOW, an idea of the Government of Canada for the Greater Toronto Area that is designed to decrease overcrowding, cut travel times, help clear the air and drive the economy in the GTA.
